2.10 metres of knit, with 20 centimetres of fringe at either end: this scarf is generously cut, and you feel it the moment you first wrap it around you. You can loop it, knot it, drape it loosely over one shoulder or wear it like a shawl around your arms. On the sofa or on the train, it takes the place of a blanket.

What sets it apart is the way it is knitted. In many multicoloured knits, the colour not currently in use runs along the back. Intarsia knitting works differently: each area of colour is worked with its own yarn. Where black meets white, the two yarns twist around each other at the edge, so nothing has to be carried across. The knit stays light and soft as a result, and the reverse side looks calm and tidy too.

The wool is hand-brushed, a blend of wool, alpaca and polyamide. This makes it feel soft without looking heavy, and it gives the contrast between black and white real depth. The long fringes add a playful finishing touch at the ends.

It suits a plain coat just as well as a wool sweater or an evening gown.
